Combined Gay News Headlines (T5T-1)

SOUNDBITES — "Transitioning is not the same as just saying ‘I’m gay or I’m lesbian’ because people don’t have to out themselves if they don’t want to. When you transition, it a physical transformation that people will absolutely begin to see over a period of time. The risk/stakes of this game are extremely [...]
Since no (ahem) media (ahem) outlet (ahem) is willing to engage Sacha Baron Cohen as Sacha Baron Cohen — and instead volunteers to take part, gratis, in the marketing phenom known as Bruno — it's hard to get a real answer out of the comedian about how he thinks the movie portrays homophobia: hysterical, or [...]
GRATUITOUS SKIN — With so many start-up underwear lines out there, it's getting harder for the makers of sexy skivvies to stand out from the crowd. How does Teamm8 do it? With this campaign intimating these two young gents are getting ready to make their XTube debut. CONTINUED » CONTINUED » Permalink | 11 comments | Add to [...]

Over at The Daily Beast, John Avlon has a couple of stories about the Young Republican's Chair, Audra Shay, and how she managed to be elected to the position.  Per Avlon, conservative Shay's 470 - 415 win over "center-right"  Rachel Hoff was spurred on by her laugh out loud endorsements of racism and, possibly, a homophobic whisper campaign insinuating that her opponent's wardrobe and ghastly support of civil unions:

Unfortunately, it doesn't end there with Hoff: As one of only a very few Young Republicans nationwide in favor of Civil Unions, Rachel Hoff attempted to convince the YRNF in 2007 to adopt a stance IN FAVOR OF CIVIL UNIONS. Although Rachel was not wearing a dress like her female counterparts, but her typical suit, her attempt was met with ridicule and frustration. It was overwhelmingly shot down and left the idea in many delegates minds of: Why would Rachel Hoff support Civil Unions?

One would think that Shay could have relaxed after using Hoff's misdemeanor conviction for committing voter fraud that stems back to a 2004 South Dakota Senate race against her but, I guess, she was concerned that the delegates might not have a problem with voter fraud when a Republican is committing the act.  It seems as thought the vote itslef was as contentious as the campaign with people being ejected, fist fights and a public voting process that some say was used to intimidate delegates to vote for Shay
“I believe that people were intimidated,” said North Carolina delegate John e John Ross.  “Without a secret ballot, many people did not have the opportunity to vote their conscience.”

It's quite a statement that these young Republicans seem to have the same fear of voting their conscience here that those in countries run by despots have. . .

H/T BethCA66.  About 100 people pecked and smooched today in support of the Salt Lake City gay couple who got roughed up by the homophobic LDS anti-PDA squad.  According to the SLC Tribune LGBT Allies took a prominent role in the lighthearted by meaningful protest
Wearing bright red lipstick, Isabelle Warnas smiled and planted a big kiss on her husband's cheek, something she said she has done often under the spires of the LDS Church's Salt Lake Temple.

"Nobody has said a thing to us," the 50-year-old Salt Lake City resident said.

This time, though, they had an audience of more than 100. They were gathered for a "kiss-in," staged Sunday morning at Main Street Plaza to show support for a gay couple who say they were detained by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints security guards after one man kissed the other on the cheek Thursday.

"My husband and I can not understand the discrimination," Warnas said. "This is not right."

LDS guards made sure that nobody showing affection set foot on LDS soil.  What a sad commentary on the LDS that they actually consider an outdoor peck on the cheek an "objectionable activity".  What's next, seven lashes for looking wimsomly at your co-perambulatory unit?
What a shocker, huh?

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she's not only staying involved in national politics, but she plans to jump back into the national scrum when she leaves office at the end of the month.

The former Republican vice presidential nominee said she plans to write a book, campaign for political candidates from coast to coast - even Democrats who share her views on limited government, national defense and energy independence - and build a right-of-center coalition.

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said during an interview published Sunday in The Washington Times.

Republican Women Federated of Simi Valley announced Palin was scheduled to speak to the group's private gala on Aug. 8 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. The event - reporters will not be allowed to attend - will take place in an airplane hangar that houses a retired presidential aircraft Air Force One and will stir more questions about her curious resignation.

It's nice to see that just like during the 2008 failed bid for the White House, Little Sarah is keeping herself well protected from the evil media...

But talk about utterly delusional- she wants to stump for DEMOCRATS.

Let's all say it together: "Thanks... but NO THANKS!"

This should be entertaining ning as hell, watching candidate after candidate find excuses as to why they don't want her there...
