Jonathan Siden strives to ease path for other gay teens

Congratulations to Jonathan Siden for acheiving the honor of being a Young Citizen of the Year Finalist.

After completing his studies at Pioneer High School in January, Jonathan "Yoni" Siden hasn't stopped trying to improve the school's climate for gay teenagers.

Siden has been busy putting the finishing touches on a tolerance survey that will be handed out at Pioneer, as well as Huron and Community high schools. Siden hopes the data collected will raise awareness and prompt change at the Ann Arbor schools.

"I think it's just coming to an awareness that LGBTQ teens are not being served by the system," said Siden, using the acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning teens, "and that there's something that we need to address."
