In this clip we discuss the "Twenty-four/Seven Program" at New Life Church, a sort of Bible boot camp where young men, 18-23, are worked out intensely and get all cut up and muscled while also praying to Jesus, immersed in this 24 hours a day, often being woken up at all hours of the night. Haggard and another man who is described as "struggling with homosexuality" often oversaw the program, including going to the gym with the young men in the morning to work out and shower with them. They often went on training missions -- including simulated counter-terrorism missions, as Christians under attack, and you'll hear about all of that. (Please don't mind the grimaces on my face throughout: I really wasn't that shocked and disgusted about what I was hearing! We had some technical/sound issues in the studio, and I was trying to cope with those problems, on the computer and to my producers, and was pretty frustrated by them, hence some of the looks on my face).Related:

Remember how Fundie Bushie Monica Goodling sniffed out rumored lesbian at DOJ, and then had her fired -- allegedly for being a lesbian?
Well, the Justice Department just rehired her. From National Public Radio:
On Monday, the Justice Department undid a small part of the damage that top officials caused in a scandal of politicized hiring and firing during the Bush administration. The department rehired an attorney who was improperly removed from her job because she was rumored to be a lesbian.NPR first broke the story of Leslie Hagen's dismissal last April, and the Justice Department's inspector general later corroborated the report. Now, Hagen has returned to her post at the department's Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys.
In 2006, Hagen was the liaison between the main Justice Department and the U.S. Attorneys' committee on Native American affairs. The chairman of that committee, Tom Heffelfinger, described Hagen to NPR last year as "the best qualified person in the nation to fill that job." Hagen's performance evaluations had the highest possible ratings - "outstanding" in each of five categories.
...As NPR reported in April, a top aide to the attorney general had heard a rumor that Hagen was a lesbian. Discrimination based on sexual orientation is against Justice Department rules. But Monica Goodling, senior counsel to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, had Hagen removed from her job anyway...
Despite all the missteps we've seen in the past two or three weeks by Congressional Democrats and the Obama Administration -- misteps that lead many of us to believe we're seeing some Change We Can't Believe In -- here at least I feel we're seeing some news of Change We [Actually] Can Believe In.
That doesn't deter the good old boys in the General Assembly, led by Rep. Paul Stam, who will likely introduce the hate amendment bill again. Equality NC's Kay Flaminio:
The word on Jones Street is that Representative Paul Stam and his cronies will be announcing introduction of a constitutional amendment against marriage equality in North Carolina within the next two weeks. With Freedom to Marry Week coming up, this must be his special way of wishing us all a Happy Valentine's Day. Aw shucks, isn't he sweet?Give to EqualityNC. One of its donors issued has issued a challenge for the org to raise $7,500 during February and he'll match every gift dollar for dollar....North Carolina's far right is all a-twitter this legislative session because North Carolina is the only state in the Southeast not to have an anti-marriage amendment. We've been able to hold one back for the past five years in a row and they're more determined than ever to stop us.
...Remember, Rep. Stam isn't only about stopping us from marrying. He also sees our anti-bullying bill as the "Trojan horse" we're using to promote a "deviant lifestyle." He could care less about kids being traumatized. They're only a means to his ends.

In the Tar Heel state, we have zero statewide protections, let alone benefits. Most of the momentum has occurred at the municipal and county level. Currently the cities/towns of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Durham, and Greensboro offer partner benefits as well as Durham and Orange Counties.
To add to that roster, the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners, led by its chair, ally Jennifer Roberts, voted to move forward to study extending domestic partner benefits.
Long-time Blend readers may remember that an anti-gay member of this board, Bill "Perversity is not diversity" James, is completely, pathologically obsessed with homosexuality and sex acts. He can be counted on to bleat out hysteria like this (Q-Notes):
Commissioners voted 6-3 along party lines in favor of a proposal that would direct the County's human resources department to study the possibility of extending domestic partner benefits. The vote does not initiate the benefits and the Commission will revisit the issue in the future. If you want to just how out of control James is, click to read a sample of "The Best of Bill James" below the fold.On Monday, Republican Commissioner Bill James had voiced strong opposition to the proposal, saying offering such benefits to LGBT employees and their partners would be illegal. He cited the state's Crimes Against Nature law. At the same time he used an anti-transgender slur to describe transgender people and prejudicially and stereotypically accused bisexuals of being promiscuous and involved in three-way relationships.
James told Q-Notes on Thursday evening that the human resources department will draft a benefits policy. Afterward, the county attorney will validate its legality.
"It was a predictable outcome," James said. "White [Democrats] talking about fairness and tolerance and the GOP talking about the law and the 250 arrests for crimes against nature."
The majority of people in his 150,000-population district (6) actually voted for this man, who has run unopposed time and again. In April of 2005, he sent this out using his county email addy:

Subject: Perversity is not diversity
You really think that a pool of people (homosexuals) where 45% of them eat feces from the rear end of another male is "normal"? If you do, you are frankly nuts.
A lifestyle where one of their past times is buying gerbils and hamsters from the pet store and cramming them up their rears in an activity called feltching? A group of people who like to urinate on their partners and call them "golden showers"? Where one of the honored members of the Gay Alliance is an organization called the "Man-Boy Love Association" that promotes sex with underage boys?
That behavior is worthy of protection? That behavior is worthy to be taught in our schools? to our children? You are one sick "Independent, white, married-heterosexual, presbyterian" if you do.
The stat's below are unimpeachable. I intend on talking about each and every one of these "behaviors" if this sorted subject comes up. I am lining up speakers including Doctors and Nurses to talk about these in gruesome detail. And these are the behaviors that Parks Helms wants to "insure"?
Attached is a wav file with a Charlotte news account of one of those "feltching" accounts gone wrong. I will play it from the BOCC dais if this comes up.
This attached account stars Robert D. Raiford in a real news account when he read the news from a local radio show in Charlotte . He now plays in County funded show "The Mecklenburgers".
This and more is summarized at the attached web page.
In a 1994 survey of 2,500 homosexual men in The Advocate (a national homosexual magazine). The results were published in the August 23, 1994 issue are as follows (warning again - this material is explicit):
Sex acts homosexual men say they love:
Insertive oral intercourse 72%
Receptive oral intercourse 71%
Insertive anal intercourse 46%
Receptive anal intercourse 43%
Receptive anilingus (tongue in the anus) 45%
Insertive anilingus 29%
Sex acts they engaged in (last five years):
Three-way sex 48%
Group sex (four or more) 24%
Bondage & discipline sex 20%
Use of nipple clamps 19%
Sadomasochism 10%
Where they met their "partners" (last five years):
Bar/disco 65%
Bathhouse, sex club 29%
Adult bookstore 27%
Park, bathroom 26%
Roadside rest area 15%
Most (57%) report having had more than 30 partners over their lifetime, and about a third (35%) report more than 100 partners.
About one quarter (26%) of HIV-positive men who have had insertive oral intercourse have had sex in another man's mouth, most typically with someone they have just met.
Among men who have had insertive anal intercourse in the past year, 44% had sex with a partner without a condom. Among those who had receptive anal intercourse in the past year, 58% had a partner who had sex with them without a condom.
Among HIV-infected men who have had insertive anal intercourse in the past year, 19% had sex without wearing a condom. They most typically did this with long-term partners or with men with whom they had a purely sexual encounter rather than within the context of a relationship.
Anilingus (tongue on or in the anus) is fairly common:
41% have performed it in the past year, and 47% have received it.
When engaging in insertive and receptive anilingus, only 4% to 5%, respectively, have used dental dams to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
Among men who had had a positive result from an HIV antibody test, 11% have said or implied that they were HIV-negative in order to have sex.
Another study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control in 1972 revealed that 50% of male homosexuals have had over 500 different sexual partners. Other studies show that AIDS victims average 1,100 different sexual partners.
In one study, two homosexual researchers found that 73% of adult male homosexuals had had sex with boys age 19 or younger. 93% report anal sexual relations.
92% report oral/anal sexual activity.
17% report eating and/or rubbing themselves with the feces of their partners.
29% report urinating on or in their partners.
37% report sadomasochism.
42% report "handballing" or "fisting" where the hand or arm is inserted into the rectum of their partner.
32% report bondage.
12% report giving or receiving of enemas for sexual pleasure.
15% report sex with animals.
You know, Republicans want the Democrats to bring it up because they see it finishing off the Democrats next year. The statement I get the most is "if your opponent is self-destructing, let him do it".
