The 10th Annual Rehoboth Film Festival features an eclectic mix of GLBT features, shorts, documentaries and more Nov. 7-11. While the festival offers queer cinephiles the opportunity to get a first glance at some highly anticipated features — notably out filmmaker Todd Haynes’ “I’m Not There” and Paul Schrader’s “The Walker” — it also allows moviegoers to catch films they may have missed over the summer at the Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
Working with celebrated out producer Christine Vachon, Haynes’ “I’m Not There” (which opens in Philadelphia late November) is a meditation on Bob Dylan. Featuring six actors in the lead role — Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Ben Whishaw, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere and Cate Blanchett — this ambitious film is certainly going to spark debate among fans and non-fans of the musician. And for additional queer interest, David Cross turns up as Allen Ginsberg, driving by a bemused Blanchett as Bob in one interesting scene.
